About us

Hi, my name is Will. After going through the avalanche education system in the United States, I felt like something was missing. And it wasn’t anybody’s fault, all the courses available are focused on moving in the mountains and learning about the science behind avalanches. I realized there was a gap in terms of learning how to use some of the digital mapping tools available to public for things like tour planning, avalanche problem mapping, and increasing your safety margins. I felt as if these tool are so incredibly powerful that they could warrant a separate course all together. So instead of another expensive course, I created this video library of tutorials for a fraction of the price of a typical avalanche class so that students can tack this on to their backcountry education without batting an eye.

Why am I the one to teach this stuff? Valid question! Always question authority. I work full time as a mountain guide, avalanche forecaster and mountain athlete. I’m an AMGA Certified Ski Guide and I have a BA in Environmental Studies with minors in Geography & Journalism. I also hold an A3 PRO 2 avalanche certification. TLDR: I’m kind of a nerd for mountains, mapping, and communication.
